Health Services
Please note the following school health procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all students:
- Medications (prescriptions and over-the-counter) are not allowed at school unless an Onslow County Schools Permission for Prescribed Medication to Be Given During School Hours form has been completed by both the parent and the doctor. The form and the medication must be brought to the school by an adult. Students MAY NOT transport medications.
- Hearing, dental, and vision screenings are periodically done at the school. If there is a concern, you will be notified.
- Head Lice: Head checks will be conducted at school. If a student is sent home with Head Lice, they may not return to school or ride the bus until they have been rechecked by the nurse and are clear of lice.
- As per Onslow County School Board Policy (4320.5), students who are vomiting, have diarrhea and/or have a fever of 100 degrees or higher will be sent home and may not return until they are free of symptoms (without medication) for 24 hours.
- Children with a suspicious rash should be checked by a physician before coming to school or riding the bus.
- It is essential that the nurse and the school have current emergency telephone numbers to ensure the parent/guardian will be be notified in the event a student becomes ill or injured. Please contact the school to make any changes or updates.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school nurse with any questions or concerns.
